For those who also have a history of smoking and/or drinking your risk for hypertension increases. Those who are overweight or obese are also at risk for high blood pressure, and regardless of symptoms should monitor their blood pressure often. There are lots of symptoms of high blood pressure but most people don't know they have it until it is discovered during an exam for something else. You can get your blood pressure checked in lots of pharmacies but if you want an accurate reading you'll want to have it checked a few times.
